Had a conversation with someone at work who started telling me - TopicsExpress

Had a conversation with someone at work who started telling me about what people "need" (financially, type of car, type of house, etc.). And went on to "educate" me, about what was the proper amount to have, and over what limit is deemed "too much", or too "greedy". I thought that was one of the strangest things I had ever heard. So I asked him... "So..... who exactly made you personally the grand arbiter of "need" in the US? I do not remember voting for you, or anything like that. I would never be so arrogant as to claim I know what is best for you (too much, too little, etc), only YOU can know that. And I would call it "hyper-arogance" (for lack of a better term) to claim that YOU as a single person, could possibly ever hope to know what would be best for EVERYONE. Just the notion that another person could possibly think they knew MY life, better than ME, made my skin crawl.....
