Had a one-day wonderfully hectic yet unforgettable trip to Kolkata, and realised India is perhaps the only country where distances are explained in terms of time, and not kilometers/miles!:-) So a casual conversation with a cab driver, Ravindra ji, went something like-- Me: How far is the airport from the Bengal Club? Ravindra ji: Around one and a half hours Me: No, how many kilometers? Ravindra Ji (smiling with an expression of a wise saint): How does it matter? If traffic is there, it can even take three hours. Today things look good, so one and half hours it is! (This triggered such a zen-like effect on me, that I dont think I will ever get angry in a jam anymore--certainly not in Kolkata!)
