Had a very interesting conversation with a fellow horseman at the ranch yesterday evening. We were discussing traumatic experiences in horses and how they may or may not make a horse viable as a mount later on down the road and after rehabilitative training. I always take what is said into consideration and often ponder for many hours or days afterwards on the topic. This particular topic was on my mind for quiet a long time throughout the night and this morning. I am an advocate of horses being able to be rehabilitated even after major traumatic events. I think this has to do with me having been identified as having PTSD after retiring from the Army. Many times, people and businesses jump to the conclusion that just because I had some bad things and bad times happen to me that I simply cannot function in a semi-normal fashion and be as good or better than others. It often upsets me, as with trying to get life insurance, when these conclusions are jumped to by others about me. I believe that both horses and men alike should be given the opportunity to show they can still be fully functional in their realms and often times maybe even better because of their past experiences. - John
