Had an inspiring talk with Joshua Lawrence Tilford last night! It got me thinking about certain instructors and the respect I should I have for them and I urge everyone whether student or fellow teacher to consider this: Innovation is defined as the process of introducing new ideas or methods. Its an improvement to something already existing. As I look at our Columbus dance community I can see several instructors that are really trying to think outside of the box...step. If we really enjoy this dance thing, it is our responsibility, whether instructor or student, to support those that can push the boundaries. Progress means to be alive. Dance can only be alive with constant innovation. Those that arent scared to push the limits and not scared to fail. I mention a few now that inspired and have challenged me to keep striving. if I dont mention you, it is not a slight, only maybe I havent seen yours yet but i will keep my eyes open. With that said, thank you Jessika M. Ferm for Next Level Dancing, Alexander J Thomas for Diamond Dance & Fitness(now Dance Tonight), Jeff Stein for your vision of Emerald City, Josh Tilford and Ashley Nichole for showing me that if you bust your butt, you and rise to the top! Thanks for having the guts to dream of change and the willingness to share your vision with us!
