Hakens The Mountain is a different kind of concept album. It does not tell of one particular story or instance. It tells of the deep inner struggles we as humans must overcome everyday. These mountains can even be present in the most mundane of tasks, and we are no strangers to them. As someone who has many inner issues this album has connected with me on a very personal album. Starting with the path the listener knows that musically they are about to embark on a journey, but if you look deeper than that and really listen to the lyrics you may find that the musical journey connects with the different personal journeys you make in your everyday life. As many of you know i really love Dream Theater, but for me The Mountain is my 2013 album of the year. The feelings i do not know how to express are made clear in this album, which is probably why i have been so desperately trying to share it with everyone. Not just so they can hear the talented musicians, but to express my feelings in a way that i can not simply do alone. Haken has earned my respect as the band that in a few years, may just take over the Prog Rock/Prog Metal throne from Dream Theater, and I could not be happier.
