Half a year ago today I gave birth to Laila Jade Hemme in a peaceful environment, surrounded by love. The moment she was born she was placed on my bare chest, wide awake and alert. We snuggled skin to skin as we gazed into each others eyes and she reached out to my face. I will never forget those moments that imprinted us for life. Every day since, our bond grows stronger and so does my love for her. Something I expect to always change and grow throughout our lifetimes. ❤️ Theres a chance she could have her first taste of solids tonight but I have a little last minute research to do. A friend begged me to reconsider because although Im excited and she is showing a lot of the signs, she truly doesnt need solid food yet (still growing perfectly EBF) and he swears her immunity will be changed forever (which with my understanding of gut bacteria being connected to your immune system, that is very possible and worth looking into). So well see about that! Might be worth holding off if my milk full of antibodies can protect during the upcoming flu season. Everyone in my house has been sick multiple times since Lailas birth, even me, and she hasnt been sick once. Thats not a coincidence ;) if other parents have done the research already point me toward some links.
