Halloween; sweet, yet bitter sweet. I love this time of year. - TopicsExpress

Halloween; sweet, yet bitter sweet. I love this time of year. Halloween represents the end of the growing season. The harvest has been brought in and the gardens are bedded down for the winter. The leaves have changed to glorious colors and have fallen to the ground. I have always anticipated Halloween as the day of the first measurable snowfall of the year. Mother nature doesn’t often let me down, this year was an exception, no snow, oh well, maybe next year. As a small boy Halloween was doubly important for me as it was the day my favorite Great Grandpa celebrated his birthday, sweet. Grandpa’s birthday was always a big celebration in my family and I handmade gifts and cards for him every year he was in my life. I remember those gifts, cards and celebrations like they were yesterday, each one a treasured memory. After Grandpa passed away, I still looked forward to Halloween for all the trappings that it still represents today, however, it was and still is a bitter sweet holiday for me as I still miss my Grandpa and still remember his birthday and the celebrations of my youth. As long as I remember him, my Grandpa will always be with me in my heart. I miss you Grandpa Scheid: I love you.
