Handt Hanson PRIVILEGE TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24 | 2 CORINTHIANS 8:3-8 Notice how the Macedonians approach this giving opportunity. First, they “give themselves to the Lord.” In other words, they pray to discern God’s will. They give not to receive Paul’s praise, but to primarily serve the Lord, responding to the One who had been so generous to them in love and grace and forgiveness. Paul uses three key Greek words to describe the generosity of the Macedonians. First is “charis,” which is translated “privilege,” though it is usually translated “grace.” Second is “koininia,” which is translated “sharing,” but implies a deep, loving community. Third is “diakonias,” which is translated “service,” and is the root of the word “deacon.” Generosity, according to Paul, is a privilege, a gift that flows out of God’s love for us and tangibly expresses our love for neighbor. Can you see how giving can be a privilege? Does giving feel like a privilege in your life? This week, ask God for a greater awareness of what it means to live “Out ... for the World.” We don’t live this way because we have to. We live this way because we get to, because God has shaped our hearts to want to. It’s evidence of God at work in us. Like · · 2 hours ago near Prior Lake ·
