Happy 1st Anniversary! Ill try to bring out the cheers and not the tears. Just wanted to thank all my family and friends for their love and support this past year. I am truly blessed to have all of you in my life. One year and and a little over 3 months ago my life changed forever. I got very sick and ended up in the ER and then the ICU at Lehigh Valley hospital. My family saw me at my worst. I missed out on summer. All the plans made were cancelled. We were planning nothing. Living day by day was the only option. LVH took very good care of me. In fact, when we pass the hospital, Kyley points it out, always wants to visit and she says the hospital is Mommys castle. My response is always, Yes, they treated me like a princess. After 3 months, a double lung transplant at UPMC became my only hope. I am so grateful UPMC took the chance, gave me hope, and took on the challenge. Especially when other transplant hospitals wouldnt since I was on the ventilator. It was a sad and scary time of my life. Thanks to family, friends, medical staff and the community for their comfort, love and support. I will never be able to say or show how appreciative we are to everyone for their work and generosity. I love how everyone came together to help. Today one year ago, marks the day I got my new lungs. Its a new anniversary in my life I get to celebrate. I will forever be thankful for this second chance. Our prayers were answered that day. I am still truly amazed with the transplant process and procedure. It is truly a miracle. Today, Im doing well. I feel healthier today than I ever have. Breathing is never a problem. I do still have a few aches, but nothing to really to complain about. In fact, every time I believe Im having a bad rough day (not health related) I think back to what a very bad day really feels like. I am ecstatic to be home with my family. This past summer we did day trips and did a lot of the activities we missed last summer. It was fun and very fulfilling. Now we still live day by day, but now I have a longer future to look forward to. I am blessed beyond words. We will be traveling to Pittsburgh this month for a checkup and bronchoscopy. I can only pray everything goes well and looks good. I will continue to take care of myself as my lung function continues to improve. I hope everyone stays healthy. Cheers to many more anniversaries. Take care with love, Jennifer
