Happy 2014 from Gussie and me! The thank you party for the Girls Who Will Shape the Future campaign at St. Cats was tremendous. The Censations sang as you entered the gym-turned fairy tale ballroom. The Kenny Centers gymnasium was transformed by white walls of curtain lit by colored spotlights. An enormous brass chandelier was suspended from a backboard over the large bar in the center. The party was well underway when the development ladies took to the stage beneath a large screen showing beautiful images from around campus. They announced the final amount raised: $40.4 Million. No plans were announced, it was simply an amazing thank you event. I enjoyed seeing Gussie Bannard, Joe Knox, Suzanne Wiltshire, Jackie Harrison Mason, Diego Sanchez and Margaret and David Bloor. Rumor on the avenue is that the next building up for reno is Guigon Hall, the old music building next to the library. I met with Maury the week prior to this party, and was impressed by his ideas for McVey. One can only hope that his ideas may be considered for the future home of theatre at St. Cats and St. Chris. More updates to come! Cheers!
