Happy Birthday Art Farmer ! Gentle Rain~Art Farmer The Gentle Rain from the Movie The Gentle Rain (Music by Luiz Bonfá - Lyrics by Matt Dubey) Arthur Stewart Art Farmer ( 21/8/1928 – 4/10/1999) was an American jazz trumpeter and flugelhorn player. He also played flumpet, a trumpet–flugelhorn combination specially designed for him. He and his identical twin brother, double bassist Addison Farmer, started playing professionally while in high school. Art gained greater attention after the release of a recording of his composition Farmers Market in 1952. He subsequently moved from Los Angeles to New York, where he performed and recorded with musicians such as Horace Silver, Sonny Rollins, and Gigi Gryce and became known principally as a bebop player. As Farmers reputation grew, he expanded from bebop into more experimental forms through working with composers such as George Russell and Teddy Charles. He went on to join Gerry Mulligans quartet and, with Benny Golson, to co-found the Jazztet. Farmer recorded more than 50 albums under his own name, a dozen with the Jazztet, and dozens more with other leaders. His playing is known for its individuality – most noticeably, its lyricism, warmth of tone, emotional expression and sensitivity. Luiz Floriano Bonfá (often seen as Luis Bonfá) (born in Rio de Janeiro 17/10/1922–12/1/2001 died in Rio de Janeiro) was a Brazilian guitarist and composer. He was best known for the compositions he penned for the film Black Orpheus. Bonfá was a great musician who played with Antonio Carlos Jobim, Stan Getz, Charlie Byrd, Quincy Jones, George Benson, Frank Sinatra and many others. Lyrics: We both are lost and alone in the world, walk with me in the gentle rain. Dont be afraid Ive a hand for your hand and I will be your love for a while. I feel your tears as they fall on my cheek, they are warm like the gentle rain. Come little one, youve got me in the world and our love will be sweet, very sad, very sweet, like the gentle rain, like the gentle rain, like the gentle rain...
