Happy Birthday Clayton Moore There once was a man known as Moore Who’s a part of our cultural lore He played The Lone Ranger A handsome young stranger Who always could settle a score Chicago’s where Clayton arrived As a baby his parents contrived When his Dad did his Mum As he fondled her bum And a few of his swimmers survived After high school Clay worked for a spell As a model, and did pretty well But he wanted to act So a suitcase he packed Hoping soon that his assets would swell In L.A. he got very small parts Which required no talent or smarts So he worked on his tan And he stuck to his plan To excel in the cinema arts But before any Hollywood suit Could offer him oodles of loot A TV guy said ‘Clay We can sign you today For a series we’re planning to shoot’ The Lone Ranger for years had been heard On a place where few bills were incurred As a radio show Costing minimum dough And for seventeen years it endured But now it would be on TV So that millions of people could see A man and his knave Who were righteous and brave Riding all through the west fancy free Clayton Moore played the handsome young stud Who never would spill any blood And could always depend On his little red friend To clean up all the horseshit and mud His grunting young minion was Tonto Who did what was ordered, and pronto Jay Silverheels played him The role would degrade him He came from a town near Toronto The series ran seven long years Many critics would give it the gears But for Clayton and Jay Who were acting for pay It was better than working at Sears
