Happy Birthday Hermione... Exactly 9 years ago today, I cried because it was my 11th brithday and past the September 1st deadline, meaning I had to accept the harsh reality that I was not to attend Hogwarts, for no welcome letter had come to me by owl or even by muggle post. But I soon found out that I share the same birthday as Hermione, and I felt a lot better knowing that even though she turned 11 in September, she had to wait another year to receive her accpetance letter as you must be 11 by September 1st in order to be admitted to the school. This renewed my hopes and spirits, and 9 years later, though I’m well aware no letter will ever come, I am happy to have had the privelage of growing up with Harry, Ron, and Hermione; and I leave my teenage years behind knowing I’m a better person for it. So happy birthday to Hermione Jean Granger, and in extension to myself only because I am lucky enough to share a birthday with her…though I suppose my childhood is now officially at its end.
