Happy Birthday Tony Samra! Tony shared some thoughts with us: From St. Johns in Hapeville to St. Joes in 1962, class of 66. Belonged to chess club and tennis team with your cousin Tom Seymour, took photos and developed them in my darkroom for paper senior year. Favorite teachers: Sister Grace Marie (4 years of latin), Sister Ann Peter for English and journalism, Brisbane for math. Tom and I would hide behind the curtains in home room and stand on the ledge waiting for homeroom to clear out for assembly and then we would bug out . We snuck into the Heart of Atlanta Motel and dove off the high dive, went to the Fox for movies where Bob Seymour was an usher, roamed downtown Atlanta, etc. Great memories. We also placed a Goldwater for president bumper sticker on the receptionists desk for LBJ. Ah yes, and then there was the joy ride in the 64 Mustang from Beaudry Ford. Two weeks after graduation I started summer classes at Ga Tech and graduated from there in 1970. Three graduate degrees later, and Im now retired. And a story of some hijinks: Almost forgot about the Merchandise Mart prank Tom and I pulled off. I had a friend who worked at the 1st National Bank at 5 points in the computer department. We collected a hugh amount of chads from punch cards and took them up to the top of the Merchandise Mart roof without being questioned or stopped. We then dumped all the chads off the top; and, guess who was walking down the street and was covered in them -- Sister Grace Marie and a few other nuns. They never found out who dumped the chads. Thanks for the stories and the memories Tony. I remember you from grade school through high school, and am glad to join with everyone in wishing you a Happy Birthday!!
