Happy Birthday to my amazing mother, Lee Brockmann! She has always been so supportive and proud of my writing and success, and Ive always found her I dont know where Suz gets it from attitude a little amusing, because I got it from her! I got it from growing up with parents who not only loved reading and books, but loved and respected each other. I got it, too, from my brilliant, loves-to-learn, liberal and freedom-loving former-Army officer and life-long teacher father, who always treated my mother as the equal partner that she was. But most of all, I got it from my moms example. Throughout my entire life, she has been my role model -- strong, smart, capable, efficient-to-the-point-of-brilliance, courageous and outspoken, but always caring and kind. Happy Birthday to the woman who taught me to expect nothing less than respect and equality, and that being a woman only meant that I could give birth to children (if I wanted to) while kicking ass and taking names. :-)
