Happy Birthday today (Jan. 12) to Scottish singer Maggie Bell, who first came to prominence in the early-70s fronting cult fave blues-rock band, Stone the Crows (also featuring, at the stage of the attached clip, pre-Wings guitarist Jimmy McCulloch); she was considered by many to be the UKs answer to Janis Joplin; as a solo artist, she was signed to Led Zeppelins newly-formed Swan Song Records in 1974, along with Bad Company & The Pretty Things; Jimmy Page contributed to her second solo album Suicide Sal (1975); her biggest hit was a 1981 duet with B. A.
