Happy Birthday today (Oct. 19) to Welsh musician Karl Wallinger, who first came to prominence as the keyboardist with UK celtic-tinged, Big Music rock band, The Waterboys (contributing to the 1984 album A Pagan Place & 1985s This Is The Sea); Karl left the group in 1986 to become singer & guitarist/multi-instrumentalist with his own band, World Party (releasing four albums between 1990-2000); he also worked on Sinéad OConnors 1987 debut album, The Lion and the Cobra; World Party scored the 1993 UK #19 single Is It Like Today; he also penned the song She’s The One, which gave Robbie Williams a UK #1 hit in 1999; Karl suffered a brain aneurysm in 2001 requiring him to suspend all work for nearly five years, but eventually made a full recovery & resumed touring in 2006; in 2007, the album Best in Show compiled the best of World Party; Karl was one of multiple artists who contributed to Peter Gabriels Big Blue Ball project, released in 2008…
