Happy Easter, everyone. This weeks NYMFWDGADHMRTYH ex-Met update begins with the newest ex-Met-- Ike Davis. In his first game as an ex-Met, Davis went 2 for 3 with a walk, a double & 2 runs scored. Despite his efforts, the Pirates still lost to the Milwaukee Brewers. Clint Hurdles Pittsburgh Pirates are 8-10. K-Rod saved it for the Brewers, his 6th of the season. What is up with Aaron Harang? The guy went 5-12 with a 5.40 ERA last season. He held the Mets hitless for 7 innings Friday night, and that was the 2nd time in 4 starts that he flirted with a no-hitter. Last Sunday, he held the Nats to one run in 6 innings, and that actually raised his ERA. It currently stands at 0.70. Jason Vargas has been equally amazing for the Kansas City Royals. He also got an ND last Sunday, giving up 2 earned runs in 7 innings against the Minnesota Twins. However, he faced the Twins again Friday, and held them scoreless for 7 innings to pick up his 2nd win of the season. His ERA is 1.24. Teammate Bruce Chen earned his first win of the season yesterday despite not pitching very well. He allowed 4 earned runs in 5 innings, however, a 5 run 4th inning by the Royals carried him to the win. Carlos Beltran has been on fire for the Yankee. He went 6 for 15 with 2 home runs in the series with the Red Sox. He continued his hot hitting against the Cubs, hitting his 4th home run of the season. Hes batting .283 with a team leading 9 RBIs (tied with Yangervis Solarte). Gold glove Milwaukee Brewers center fielder Carlos Gomez hit 2 home runs against the Pirates on Friday night to give him 5 on the season to go along with 12 RBIs & 13 runs scored. He went 0 for 5 yesterday to bring his average down to .307. The hottest ex-Met right now, however, is Angel Pagan. He already has 10 RBIs & 8 runs scored in the lead-off spot for the Giants, and is batting .362 on the season. Brandon Hicks, who batted .283 for the Las Vegas 51s last season, is batting .250 with 1 home run, 2 RBIs & 5 runs scored as the Giants starting second baseman with Marco Scutaro out for at least half the season. The Bruce Bochy led San Francisco Giants are 10-8, one game back of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Reliever Yusmeiro Petit earned his first win of the season in an extra innings affair with the Dodgers on Tuesday. He allowed a one out double to Hanley Ramirez, then intentionally walked Adrian Gonzalez before retiring Yasiel Puig & Andre Ethier. The winning run in the bottom the 12th was scored on a ground ball Justin Turner couldnt handle. Turners average is down to .185 with 2 RBIs & 2 runs scored. The next day, Chris Capuano, another converted starter now pitching in relief, also earned his first win of the season in extra innings. He pitched 2.2 innings out of Bostons bullpen, allowing just one hit before making way to closer Burke Badenhop. In 9 innings pitched, Capuano has yet to surrender an earned run. Xavier Nady hasnt seen a lot of playing time with the San Diego Padres so far this season, but hes making the most of it. His solo home run in the 4th was the only run scored in their loss to the Colorado Rockies yesterday. However, in the 9th, LaTroy Hawkins got him to hit into a double play to end the game. With the trouble Joe Valverde has had closing out Mets games, maybe the Mets should have held onto Hawkins. He recorded 3 saves this week for the Rockies, and has a 1.35 ERA. The Twins & Blue Jays played a double header on Thursday. In the first game, the Twins scored 5 runs in 4.1 innings against RA Dickey to hang his 3rd L of the season on him. His ERA has ballooned to 6.26. Josh Thole again caught him, and went 2 for 3 to raise his season average to .455. In the second game, Minnesota Twins starter Mike Pelphrey also only lasted 4.1 innings while giving up 4 runs to see his ERA balloon to 7.98. He ended up with the ND, as the Twins scored 6 in the 8th for the come from behind win. Ron Gardenhires Minnesota Twins are 8-9, and John Gibbons Toronto Blue Jays are 10-8, and tied for 1st place in the AL East with the Yankees. Jose Reyes is finally back in the Blue Jays line-up. He went 1 for 5 with an RBI in his return yesterday. Scott Kazmir got a no decision in each of the 2 starts he made this week. He pitched 6 innings of shutout ball against the Mariners last Sunday, and gave up 2 runs in 8 innings yesterday against the Astros. His ERA is down to 1.65. Nick Punto started at 2nd base in yesterdays game, and went 3 for 4 to raise his average to .276. The Philadelphia Phillies Marlon Byrd has had a rough week. He had 2 hits & 2 RBIs Monday in the game won by the Atlanta Braves on Dan Ugglas grand slam. Since then, hes 1 for 12 with a walk. He still has 10 RBIs on the season. Collin Cowgill has seen a decent amount of playing time for the Los Angels Angels of Anaheim with Josh Hamilton out 6-8 weeks. Hes currently batting .333 with 5 runs scored. His only RBI of the season so far was on a solo home run he hit against the Mets last week. After getting off to a decent start for the Tampa Bay Rays, Heath Bell got his bell rung in each his last 3 appearances (9 hits, 5 earned runs, 5.1 innings) Scott Hairston is on the DL for the Nationals. Aaron Laffey (who was at the other end of the best trade the Mets have made in 20 years) is also in the Nats organization. Seattle Mariners back up catcher John Buck appeared in just his 3rd game of the season Thursday, an 8-6 loss to the Texas Rangers. The Lloyd McClendon led Seattle Mariners are 7-10. Robin Venturas Chicago White Sox are 8-10. We close the NYMFWDGADHMRTYH ex-Met update with a happy Mets moments: In the Mets 3 game sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks, we outscored them 21-5. The only Arizona pitcher who was effective against the Mets was Oliver Perez. He pitched 3 innings against the Mets, and held us scoreless, while striking out 5. JJ Putz also pitched a scoreless inning against us.
