Happy Founders Day to my Brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated On this day cold winter day, 107 years ago, 7 brave young men on the campus of Cornell University embarked on a journey that would lay the foundation for many more like it to come. Their desire? To maintain a more intimate contact with one another than the classroom setting permitted. For in 1906, at a predominately white University, one can only imagine the struggles that they faced. Henry Arthur Callis, Charles Henry Chapman, Eugene Kinckle Jones, George Biddle Kelley, Nathaniel Allison Murray, Robert Harold Ogle, and Vertner Woodson Tandy would forever change history. Their dedication to their cause would influence other prominent individuals such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., W.E.B. DuBois, Cornell West, Duke Ellington, Jesse Owens, and many others to become a part of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated and make their impact. So to the oldest and the coldest, Happy Founder’s Day! Bro. Kashid Abdul Malik 06
