Happy New Year & HAPPY DIWALI Deepawali is the word that is - TopicsExpress

Happy New Year & HAPPY DIWALI Deepawali is the word that is translated into Deep (Light) and Aawali (Row). The festival signifies the triumph of Light over Darkness. We celebrate the day with the festival of Deepawali or Diwali for one or two or all of the following reasons: 1. The return of Lord Rama, Seeta and Laxman to Ayodhaya after fourteen years of exile. 2. The return of Pandavas to Hastinapur after twelve years of exile. 3. Goddess of wealth and prosperity Laxmi having married Lord Vishnu on this day. 4. The sixth Guru of the Sikhs Guru Har Gobind having freed the Hindu kings and himself from the prison in Gwalior wherein the Mughal King Jehangir had put them. 5. Lord Mahavira having obtained Nirvana or Moksha on this day. It is really very different from Patakhawali that we celebrate these days without ever stopping to remember what it was supposed to denote. The ONLY WAY for us to celebrate Deewali is to light the lamp of knowledge in our hearts and in the hearts of those that we come in contact with. Therein lies the salvation for India in the same manner it signified for the above five reasons. The festival spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair. HAPPY DEEPAWALI
