Happy New Year to all! Want to let the pack of 29 first cousins - TopicsExpress

Happy New Year to all! Want to let the pack of 29 first cousins (26 now) in the Dayton region know that Aunt Irene now 92 has stated that she is ready to go...all good things often come to an end. I have had the honor of spending quite a bit of time with her during my visits with her while helping take care of Maryann (mother, grandmother, aunt,) over the last 7 months. Irene and I have had many conversations about the Pytel family growing up. Uncles Jess, Stanley, John, Wilber all making it back from WWII. Of course as a child I did not ask questions about their experiences during the war. Often we miss those opportunities. She has stories about the family living on Crane St. (house now gone), Garland and First and Jersey. Stories of Grandpa Pytel growing gardens, bootlegging, broken people from the depression getting off the trains downtown and making their way to their porch on Crane St, for a sandwich of ham on rye. Of course stories about Grandma Pytel are about how hard she worked, keeping an impeccable house, making blood soup, borscht, cabbage rolls, how kind and sweet she was. How almost all of the 11 children played and swam at Eastwood park etc. Stories about many of your parents. Jessie, Stanley, Helen, John, Jeanie, Irene Wilbur, Bernice, Maryann Martha, and Leonard. Ok ok I probably did not get the birth order totally correct. But hey I tried. I think Aunt Irene is a brilliant and incredibly articulate person who was labeled as crazy unfairly by some. . The point I am trying to get to is that I know she would benefit from a visit and would put money on it that you would too! She is at the Maria Joseph Nursing Home on Salem Avenue in Trotwood Ohio. Her mind is still sharp.
