Happy Suomi Sunday to you all! How was your Halloween? Lets start off this Sunday with a Finnish band that goes way back: Hanoi Rocks! Before there was Nightwish or any of the other bands that most people associate with todays music scene in Finland, Hanoi Rocks was one of the first Finnish rock bands to achieve crossover mainstream success back in the 1980s. Formed in 1979, Hanoi Rocks is probably best-known as one of the many glam metal bands from the 80s, even though they probably influenced the look of a lot of those bands! They have also influenced other bands on the metal scene such as Guns n Roses. The band originally broke up in the mid-80s after the tragic death of their drummer Razzle, but two of the original members regrouped and a new version of Hanoi Rocks was born. They would continue up until 2009, and broke up for good. They still experience a wide following all over the world, especially in Japan; and their influence on the glam metal scene can still be felt today.
