Happy Thanksgivings everyone....Recently, I moderated a panel on the film Hidden Colors that was apart of the Africana Studies Association conference at the central library. It was a very lively discussion and the questions/comments were good; even the guy who tried to ballhog lol. I think Hidden Colors is a fragmented intro into African/Diaspora/Black and World History for alot of young black people and many of us dont take it any further than our introduction. I could go on and on about this film but my point is ideology. More people end up taking on the fragmented thinking than the actual information about historical facts of Africana history. Especially in the wake of the realities in #Fegurson everyone will be running around looking for some answers beyond the news reports for the true causes and dont care how much they actually make sense. I hope to see people of color at Kwanzaa ,or somewhere else, this year without the ideology(not sure if that is possible but its worth a shot lol) to have a real conversation about black/world history and how to embrace the beautiful complexity our situation. Anyway, I wanted to share this video that I think is the polar opposite of Hidden Colors but if you ask me is just as ridiculous and ideological lol. ....Enjoy #FegursonAintNew #BlackFriday #1919RedSummer #History #Thanksgiving #GiveThanks https://youtube/watch?v=tD6QEEijk1Q
