Harpers government is holding our childrens education prospects hostage right now as punishment to indigenous peoples for standing up for the treaty right to education. By treaty right to education, I mean our inherent jurisdiction to design, implement and manage an education system for our children that nourishes the spirit of our young ones and helps them develop the immense potential and gifts that we know we have in our future generations. The Harper regimes false narrative of failing on-reserve school systems premised on a false ideation that provincial school systems are the ultimate solution to close the education gap does not fool anyone... We have built the mechanisms to succeed through the efforts of our educators, our professionals and of course our families who are succeeding in education no matter what barriers political actors of the day put in our way.
