Harvesting asparagus seeds. These are hand harvested then spread - TopicsExpress

Harvesting asparagus seeds. These are hand harvested then spread on sheets and placed in a warm place to dry. In February they will be sown in trays in the greenhouse and stay there till September. Then they are evaluated for size and if they have a good root system they are transplanted into raised beds and there they live until 2017 for these seeds. Then they are ready to be sold to their new families and give luscious Gus for you to eat. This is approx 140 berries which holds four seeds each. Thats 500+ crowns. Takes a lot of seeds and work to raise our crowns. But we love it and the best part for me is getting notes from happy families who are growing their own organic asparagus.
