Has anyone ever dealt with a Newf who has been previously shaved? I recently acquired a new dog (previous client the newf is a rescue) who was shaved by the rescue to assess skin condition. So months go by and the owners were unaware of the matinence a newfie requires, and I end up with a pelted mess on my table. this dog has a coat unlike one I have ever seen before. its incredibly difficult to work with and brush out and the dog does not handle I well. I am wondering if this was the basis of shaving him at the rescue. Needless to say second groom on him I ended up having to shave him again (the first time I was able to brush him out and spot shave some tight matts), which is not something I want to do regularly. If anyone has dealt with this or something similar please send some suggestions! He has an incredibly thick cottony coat. Thanks in advance!
