Has anyone ever tired the Occlusal Stamp Technique for an MOD - TopicsExpress

Has anyone ever tired the Occlusal Stamp Technique for an MOD Composite? Old technique done by many but Ive only seen it done on occlusal caries and usually utilizing a clear vps. This variation allows it to be used for most any filling provided the pre-op anatomy of the tooth is intact. Blockout resin is flowed across the intact occlusal surface and indexed over the cusp tips prior to prepping. Care is taken not to go onto the marginal ridges. A microbrush can be used to create a handle and help orient its placement back onto the tooth. Sectional matrices and rings are used to build the proximal surfaces and establish good contacts. The walls are built as thin as possible so that they will not interfere with re-seating of the blockout resin stamp. After making the proximal walls, the rings and matrices are removed. The dentin layer is incrementally built up and cured. The enamel layer is then placed and slightly overbuilt. A piece of teflon tape is layed over the occlusal surface. The occlusal stamp is now reoriented over the tape and seated forcefully back onto the tooth.........you can see the anatomy created through the teflon tape. The tape can then be teased away without creating pull back or distortion of the composite. Excess material that was expressed over the marginal ridges is removed with the Ash Explorer and any further modification of the occlusal surface can be done prior to polymerizing.
