I dream of an Island in the ocean Where tropical trees grow upon the beach And the sand sifts through my feet as white as snow There, I would sit near a coral lagoon and watch the waves Come ashore, and then retreat once again from the coastline Never looking back.... And I would see the shadows and hear the cries of the birds Hovering overhead .....Haunting I would be the God of all these wonders, and watch for the Changing colors of the water and the sky as time endlessly passes I would build a hut out of palm leaves and crushed coral And confiscate the wild vines for rope to give it strength The storms that would emerge never penetrating. Nor escaping. I would feed from the ocean and the jungle like a native, and procure Tools of what becomes necessity for my existence to continue I would worship the sun, the wind, and the deep sea before me And chase never ending dreams..... I would remember all that was left behind me, and procure the beauty I witnessed. I would relive the love, and feel for the tears once present On my cheeks that are now dried, ....but a trace remains. I would be not caring Of my future or eventual fate, but would be powerless to forget the past I would watch the horizon for a ship that bears a love from my Past that never arrives. But I would never give up hope I would enter legend, and write of my experiences, my thoughts, my dreams. Hoping that someday a hand reopens the care worn pages once again And they will remember.
