Have an interesting story to tell. True story. Jim and I went - TopicsExpress

Have an interesting story to tell. True story. Jim and I went into a store to window shop for and potentially buy a product. This store has a monopoly on this product but we were told that they had a wide selection to chose from. We werent sure we were ready to make a purchase - we just to comparison shop first. The product in question was needed, important, and actually legally required. Before we were allowed to look at the products however, we had to stop at the front desk. We were asked for quite a bit of personal identifying information. Why? We were told that it was so that the store could help us determine what product option would be the best fit for us. We were also asked if we would like help paying for the product - basically inquiring as to whether we were interested in financial assistance...... Well we said we are interested comparing the different products and we certainly would like to know what your best offer would be for each product. Unfortunately, once we (unknowingly) opened up the financial assistance quagmire, our window shopping became far more complicated. We were then asked for specific financials - only in the methodology required by the store and without specific information as to why the specifics were to be used. When asked why, the store personnel replied that it was show they could show us the best products that would meet our needs. Reluctantly we proceeded because we were unable to easily and gracefully turn around and walk out - the exit sign was nowhere to be seen. After the application was finally completely, the store was finally willing to let us window shop. When they let us walk around the corner and out into the aisle however, we were very surprised to find that only one product was on the shelf. The product was abysmal - far inferior in quality to what we were interested in. The price tag was low too. When we expressed confusion as to why we were only being shown one product, the store personnel replied that that was all our income qualified us for. We protested that our income shouldnt have any bearing on what products should be available for us to evaluate. We empathetically stated that we were willing to pay a fair price for a product that we liked and that met our needs and our income should not have been considered. The store was rigid and inflexible though - we were told that it was all or nothing. We either had to purchase the product that we were being shown or we had to go through the whole process again, answer no to the help question and then we could look at all of the products but they would all be at the high suggested retail price. The inferior product was unacceptable to us so we turned around to go through the whole process again. Unfortunately the stores computer system froze up at that point leaving us in limbo. The stores IT department told us that our account could be froze for months and, in the meantime, we are completely unable to obtain any information or do anything else. We are literally at the stores mercy at this point. Sounds incredible right? Cant be true at all or if it is, it is a crazy store that will soon go out of business right? Think again friends. This is true, real-life and just happened to Jim and I. Take one guess as to what the store is and what product we were and are trying to shop for. The answers are quite frightening in my opinion.
