Have to say that this Spring/Summer has been a great year for veggies...here are a few takeaways: * The Xmas tree mulch I collected last Winter has been incredible in encouraging my tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers. After collecting a truck-full of the fresh tree mulch and letting it sit for a couple of months, I basically amended my beds with nothing but the mulch and Ive had more fruit production from my peppers. cukes. tomatoes. etc than I ever have. Hint: Look for your local Xmas tree mulch location. * My jiaogulan and gotu kola herb plants are also growing like crazy. Not sure if the Xmas tree mulch is the driver, but its the best harvest of some extremely beneficial medicinal herbs that I have seen in years. * Holy Basil will take over your garden. Love the herb, but I let it go to seed last year and now its popping up every were. * Growing stinging nettle requires a significant investment in heavy gloves and signs that say Dont touch this...Got a good batch for tincturing this year, but not sure its worth the hassle to do year after year.
