Have you ever had something to do, and just keep getting - TopicsExpress

Have you ever had something to do, and just keep getting distracted? Have you ever felt overwhelmed with something, and just felt like you had so much to do? Then later on realize you didn’t get anything done you set out to do? Maybe it was the phone ringing, you got a text message you responded to. Some new show on movie came on Netflix you wanted to see, or you just happened to be online and saw that news story or one of your friends posted something on Facebook, and you just had to like, comment, and maybe even share it. I know it’s happened to me more times, than I care to admit. When I was in college, one of the things I hated doing was writing papers. They were always so time consuming. Doing research, getting all of the references together, and thinking how am I going to write a 10-15 page paper? What happened was, I let them overwhelm me, and ended up doing everything at the last minute, and that only made it worse. Got the paper done, but then when I got the grade, and maybe get a C if I’m lucky. Most of the time, this is called procrastination. I just want to share a few tips with you, on how to avoid procrastinating and getting the things done you need to. 1. Begin with the end in mind. Have the goal set you want to reach. Know where you want to go before you even get started. If you start with end goal, then you will know the steps to take to finish and what you need to do to accomplish the end results. 2. Act as if you already have attained your goal. This means envision, imagine, and see where you want to be. This will give you the motivation, and also program your brain to do the tasks necessary to achieve the end result. 3. Turn off all distractions. This means your phone, Facebook, Instagram, movies, anything that buzzes, beeps, and rings. Anything you think may distract you. Sometimes you may need to get out of the house. I like to go to Barnes and Nobles just to get way from anything in the house I know may distract me. Just eliminate everything that will distract. This will help you develop laser focus. That’s what you need if you want to get to where you want to be. If this post has helped you in anyway, share, like or comment.
