Have you ever met someone who looked completely out of place? I mean, I try not to stereotype but it happens to the best of us. So I couldnt help but stare at my handsome but frail cashier in Advanced Auto Parts who helped me purchase a replacement tail light and a completely unnecessary can of some sort of fuel additive. His eyes were blue and kind. He barely spoke above a whisper. I noticed his wedding ring (thats what real women do....lol! ) and he even gave a couple of husbandly ribs at his bride. I asked him a direct question about her and I immediately regretted my question. Suddenly those blue eyes that danced with the joy of upselling to me a useless can of fuel additive became saddened. He told me his wife and he are Type 1 diabetics. She passed away in her sleep last year. This guy who was totally out of place in Advanced Auto Parts was now a Clemson grad struggling to rebuild his life without the woman he vowed to share it with. I asked him, Are you ok? He said, Im here. He came outside to replace the tail light and I asked him, What do you want now in life? His wants were so simple. I want to be stable enough to live on my own again without a roommate. I want the time to participate in the Greenville Jaycees again. I said, What is your full name? He told me. I asked, Are you on facebook? He smiled and said My wife wasnt having that. It was just easier not to sign up for it. The first friend request from a woman and Id be toast! I said, I like her already. I thanked him for changing my tail light and for allowing me the honor to speak with him. I told him Id pray and ask God to give him all his desires. I didnt tell Him that my God exceeds our expectations. I love people, just like my Father in heaven does.
