Have you heard of Fort Garry Hotel? The Fort Garry Hotel: Room 202 holds a place in Winnipeg’s haunted past. People who have stayed in this room, have reported the ghost of a young woman. She can be heard walking around the room with you and even gets into your bed when you’re fall asleep. She is said to be Kate, a bride murdered in this room. Another former guest tells of waiting for the elevator and glimpsing a man with blackened eyes pressed against the window. Could this be the worker supposedly killed while repairing an elevator? After this experience, the guest decided to quickly run down the stairs instead of taking the elevator (and who can blame him?) but when he looked up, he saw the same apparition staring down at him from a few flights up. The final story is that of Theodore, the phantom diner. Theodore fell in love with a lounge singer and dined often at the Fort Garry. One night, his brother shot him in the back of his head – they were fighting over the same woman! This singer is said to haunt the Palm Lounge, near the grand piano (222 Broadway Ave. Winnipeg, MB)
