Havent checked to see in a while, the money supply story: shadowstats/alternate_data. The news is better (and worse) than I expected. Essentially, we seem to still be in a deflationary spiral. With all the pumping of the prime, totals have increased some 20% past 2 years. (I was worried theres a greater commodities bubble that would burst, but this corresponds to a real price of $80 a barrel instead of $100). With all that free money, few want the risk to invest (the dollar being depressed, it ought be a good time for manufacturing and exports). Was thinking bursting bubble and deflation might actually be good for those of us doing without. Doesnt seem worth the social costs, though (and the affluent, and banks, always seem to ride it out in better shape anyway). Among structural changes: who owns stocks, bonds, real estate (just thinking aloud....)
