Having a child who has been diagnosed with cancer changes things. Of course, there are the obvious changes. The constant doctor appointments create a schedule shift from what used to be the norm. You see physical changes as your child battles with the disease. But many changes are less obvious. You start to value different things, the moments and experiences in life. Your emotions go haywire. Your heart changes. You see your child in a different light. You find that your baby is a tough little warrior packed in a 5-year-old body. You stand in amazement at the depth of knowledge and understanding she has of the things of God, knowing that He takes care of her and is there with her. Your eyes are also opened to a world you never new existed, the world of cancer. It is a disease that does not discriminate and is everywhere. Before it was always out there but now its here. Moriah is not alone in her battle. Many of you reading this and following her have probably been affected by cancer before, maybe even fighting right now. Please know that you also are not alone. As we fight we are praying for you as well. Everyones battle is different, but know that a little 5-year-old, who understands your struggles more than she should, is praying for you before the very throne of God. We believe firmly in a God who loves us and knows our every path. In sickness and in health, He does not leave us and He does not fail us.
