Having lived now for 62 years, also having many of my family living over those years up in the Adelaide Hills I have witnessed the aftermath of many fires over the years... it is a really dreadful event when these big fires hit, taking homes, sometimes lives & also the lovely Australian bush. But our native species have survived fires for thousands of years & are designed to cope with it by evolution. So I know that in a few months there will be green sprouts coming from these blackened dead looking trees, then in a few seasons you would hardly know a fire had destroyed so much.. I think that is the problem, people forget the dangers of leaving too much undergrowth of grasses & shed bark etc, If people would be more responsible about clearing their properties then maybe these fire when they do start wouldnt have the fuel to spread so far & so quickly ..
