He made the world a brighter place by simply being born... I - TopicsExpress

He made the world a brighter place by simply being born... I remember as a child, being at my Grandfathers and hearing Robin say Nanu nanu and instantly the entire universe grew larger. Sneaking to watch Good Morning Vietnam broadened my horizons in a painfully realistic way that still impacts my character for which I am eternally grateful to this man. Dead Poets Society taught me very was a LAZY mans word... and I never forgot. Good Will Hunting taught me that you need to look for mentors in those who have LIVED their lives through experience and not empty words... it was his performance that stuck with me. Hook is still a favorite of mine, Neverland is a place of mind and NOT a destination. Mrs Doubtfire makes me giggle like a school girl and reminds me that even the silliest of ideas can give hope to a willing heart. The Birdcage is proof that those born into bigotry will sit through damn near ANY movie when the actor in the role is Robin Williams... living in the Appalachia proved this to me. I saw this movie with my friends during college and never in my life have I ever laughed so uproariously, while enjoyed watching so many awe inspired rednecks doing the same without restraint or judgment. Barriers were broken that night, and I was there to see it happen. His role in Law and Order, SVU, scared the hell out of me. That was when I recognized his life was not all sunshine and roses. We all have a side we may not show to the world, but it is there and it is exceedingly real. Robin Williams death saddened me, because he was always in the background at my familial functions. I dont have cable TV and I dont subscribe to the Hollywood bullshit. But every time I saw any interview with this man, he seemed genuine. Each of his films that I saw, I actually enjoyed. -Vested
