This event is for Social Workers and Case Managers. Most healthcare professionals understand the importance of selecting a surrogate decision maker for health care. Many social workers and case managers, particularly in the health care field, frequently encourage clients to complete an advanced directive for health care. Miles Hurley, Certified Elder Law Attorney with Hurley Elder Care Law, will explain the various documents that may be encountered in their practice that individuals may have executed—living wills, guardianship appointments, powers of attorney, and advanced directives. Additionally, Mr. Hurley will discuss ethical decisions that surrogates may face and guidelines for how to make health care decisions on behalf of another person.
