Healthcare Workers to Host Public Fundraiser for Typhoon Victims in the Philippines OAKLAND, Calif. – California healthcare workers will host a public fundraiser from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16 in Daly City to support victims of the typhoon in the Philippines. The workers are members of SEIU-United Healthcare Workers West, the West Coast’s largest union of healthcare workers, who have already pledged $100,000 to relief efforts and are organizing a medical mission to the Philippines to provide direct care to storm victims. The workers are inviting the public to donate funds and medical supplies to help the relief effort, with all proceeds benefiting the NAFCON Bayanihan Relief & Rehabilitation Program. Attendees will also be able to search online for family and friends missing in the Philippines. Supplies most needed include painkillers, first aid bandages, antibiotic cream, burn cream, peroxide, fever and cold medicine, vitamins, Benadryl, anti-diarrheal medicine, baby formula, dietary supplements for the elderly, and water purification tablets.
