Hear! Hear! The #Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP) has done little for the city of Birmingham and ignores manufacturing and Jaguar Land Rover in favour of spurious Business and Professional Services jobs.....inward investment is in decline despite what Business Birminghams Birmingham Press Releases say with only 3 significant inward investments all brokered by the previous inward investment organisation to Business Birmingham Locate in Birmingham.....the relocation of Deutsche Bank Overseas International from Mumbai Indians to 1 Brindleyplace on Broad Street in Birmingham, the Indian TATAa purchase of JLR and the Chinese investment by Shanghai Automotive Industries Corporation (SAIC) in Longbridge which brought SAICs European Research and Development Centre to the former Rover site with the assembly of MG Motors-badged Chinese cars, the MG6 and MG3 Supermini there......precious little.....The GBSLEP is run by Birmingham born and schooled John Lewis Chief Executive Andy Street....is it little wonder that he concentrates on retail and service sector jobs which are poorly paid......that is his area of expertise....where are the doers and shakers, the makers and manufacturers on the GBSLEP Board, people who actually make things instead of sell us things, people that are Made in Birmingham and Birmingham Made Me.......Come on Birmingham, we were once the City of a thousand trades and the workshop of the world....we NEED TO BE SO AGAIN! MADE IN BIRMINGHAM SHOULD ONCE AGAIN BE OUR PROUD BOAST
