Hearst Castle on top of a mountain on the Pacific Coast is a must see when visiting California. Relics from ancient times, sculpture and art from around the world...It is like visiting the Louvre! Marble and gold (real gold) flanks the indoor pool and a Architectural structure from (Parthenon times) stands at the far end of the outdoor pool while famous marble sculptures decorate the pool at the other end. Both pools have beautiful Italian tile floors. There are 160 rooms and the ceilings are all from hundreds of year old cathedrals and churches reflecting the Italian or Spanish Architecture. The dining table seats 60 people. The furnishings are all from the Italian Renaissance period. He had a zoo up there with lions, tigers, zebras and even polar bears that he had ice flown in for. William Randolph Hearst built his mansion atop a 25,000 acre mountain that over looks the Pacific Ocean and is absolutely amazing.
