Heart Disease ““My wayward children,” says the Lord, - TopicsExpress

Heart Disease ““My wayward children,” says the Lord, “come back to me, and I will heal your wayward hearts.” (Jeremiah 13:22) Heart disease is one of the greatest killers of people in the world today. It can strike anyone whether young or old, athletic or lazy. You cannot tell who might have it. Looking on the outside, someone may look completely healthy and yet be a ticking time bomb with this disease. On the other hand, someone may look to be a perfect candidate for having the disease and yet never be in danger of it. The only way one can know for sure if someone has heart disease is if the disease gets so bad there are outside symptoms or they go to a specialist and have specific tests to detect the disease. The specialist has various procedures to take care of the problem or if it is not severe, they will give you steps to take to avoid further trouble. The same can be said of “SHD” (thought the abbreviation makes it seem more medical) or “Spiritual Heart Disease”. It can attack anyone, a new Christian, a mature Christian or anywhere in between. As we look at them, they may seem spiritually healthy. They may attend church every time the doors are open and even go to Sunday School. They might be a teacher, Deacon or even a Pastor. However, nobody is exempt from its clutches. As with physical heart disease, the symptoms of spiritual heart disease may become extreme enough that they too are visible to others. The symptoms might include things such as greed, covetousness, bitterness or resentment. However, just as with the physical heart disease, the symptoms may remain hidden and while the person seems to have it all together, they may actually be falling apart inside and behind the walls of their home. The Great Physician is the specialist needed in this situation. He examines the heart and can see lust, jealousy, envy as well as other symptoms. The good news is an appointment with the Great Physician is easy to obtain. He will work with your schedule. In fact, you can call on Him anytime to search your heart and give you His diagnosis. He will also give you the needed steps to obtain a healthy heart once again. They will be steps like confession, forgiveness, and repentance. This comes about through the special medicines He has for the heart such as love, grace and mercy. However, none of these can take place without scheduling an appointment to meet. One thing is for sure though. In both the physical and spiritual heart disease, early detection is critical to avoid any lifelong side effects. When detected and corrected early enough, a healthy life can resume. However, if it goes unchecked there may be some life long consequences of the disease such as depression and resentment. Stay spiritually healthy and have daily check ups with the Great Physician! It is good for the heart!
