Helen Worth has said that her character Gail McIntyre will be left feeling miserable next week as she sacrifices her own happiness to appease her family. Upcoming episodes see Gails friendship with Michael Rodwell develop into romance as they share a kiss, but continued disapproval from Gails son Nick Tilsley soon ruins things for them. Furious when he spots Gail kissing her new love interest, Nick sees red & vengefully vandalises an old ice cream van that Michael has been working to restore in order to start a new business. Speaking of the dramatic scenes, Helen explained: Nick comes back to the house & spies Gail & Michael in the garden enjoying a bottle of wine & kissing. It completely pushes him over the edge & as he leaves, he spots Michaels ice cream van & vandalises it. Gail is absolutely devastated & completely humiliated - she knows full well who is behind it. Gail confronts Nick about it & he admits to it & tells her its because he saw them kissing in the garden. Gails mother Audrey Roberts later gathers the whole family together in the hope that they can resolve their differences, but when the peace talks fail, Gail loses all hope of a happy future with Michael.
