Todays Devotion Topic: Repaying Good With Evil. Text: Isaiah 5: 3- 4 Now you dwellers in Jerusalem and men of Judah, judge between me and my vineyard. What more could have been done for my vineyard than I have done for it? When I looked for good grapes, why did it yield only bad? Amen. Mentioned more than any other plant in the bible, the grape vine was very important economically. It was usually cultivated on hills which required clearing many stones. Indeed, this involved dedicated efforts and days of hard work. It also required building a hedge around the whole vine yard and a watch tower to drive away thieves. Isaiah 5:2 - He dug it up and cleared it of stones and planted it with the choicest vines. He built a watchtower in it and cut out a winepress as well. Then he looked for a crop of good grapes, but it yielded only bad fruit. Symbolically, this is what God did for Israel but when it was time for Israel to please Him, they rebelled. We are not behaving any differently from what the Israelites did in the times of old. After God helped you get that job you asked for, what has become your response to church lately? Has logic replaced your faith in God because He helped you graduate from the University? What has become of your response to your devotion after God gave you that spouse? Have your text books replaced the bible after you got that admission? How about your second thoughts on paying tithe now that God has blessed you with a salary raise? Isaiah 5:5 - Now I will tell you what I am going to do to my vineyard: I will take away its hedge, and it will be destroyed; I will break down its wall, and it will be trampled. Begin to pray and ask for forgiveness ye that have taken the love of God for granted. Come back on track ye that have backsliden.
