Hello Artists! I have been on a very brief sabbatical from my gallery this New year, since I am gearing up with some big plans for the Winter Games! I am planning on turning the Groop Gallery into an Art Gallery/Coffee house/Chat Lounge/Open Mic idea for the Games and have been entertaining some very interesting ideas, one of which Id like to invite artists to take part in......... I bought some old school chairs a while back (the old wooden seat and back type with metal piping legs that we all grew up sitting in) and have decided that if they were painted (by artists) that they would be very funky and serve nicely as coffee house chairs for guests of the gallery. Cloverdale paint was hugely generous in supplying me with a bunch of mis-tint paint and with the addition of some colorful acrylic paint as well, Im sure some pretty fun art could be created, and each chair would be signed and dated by the artist who created it. I am planning a paint-in this Saturday at the Groop Gallery from Noon to 4 pm, for anyone who can join. Please RSVP to me asap only so I have an idea of how many I might expect. I will supply what I can, but I would suggest that you bring the following with you: Your own brush(es) , dropcloth (I have about 3), and any favorite acrylic colors you may want to use if you know what you want to paint I will supply sandpaper, primer, and the clear coat, as well as all the latex colors Cloverdale donated and a small offering of Acrylic basic colors. If you cannot stay to paint with us, but would still like to paint a chair for the gallery, then you can always just come and pick one up to take home with you to paint at your leisure and bring back to me when finished (before the Games) Please let me know by return e-mail or phone 250-613-9997 if you can come Saturday and/or if youd take a chair home to paint!
