Hello Bullhead Regatta group and thank you for accepting me as a member. I had woke early Sunday morning after the Bullhead City river regatta and found an out crying of complaints and photographs regarding the garbage along the beaches and shores of the Colorado river. I had recalled the previous year where on the Sunday after the event, I had taken my grand daughter to the rails by the Veterans memorial to swim. There I had witness a huge amount of garbage, broken glass, cans, bottles and debris left by the floaters and not collected by the cleanup. My son in law and I took a proactive stance and began filling 6, 50 gallon barrels with the garbage that had been left, and removed over 40 lbs of glass from the beach. This last Sunday on August 10,2014 I had grabbed my camera to photograph the results of the cleanup effort by the volunteers and staff of the event. Here are my results in photos of what I had seen. I had found that the cleanup was phenomenal and that the beaches and shores were actually cleaner after the regatta then before. I want to thank the people who did this huge effort for a job well done. I still have not found any research regarding the environmental impact of the Colorado river on the effects of the Bullhead City river regatta, and also no economic impact studies of the event either. On the surface it appears the cleanup was an effort well done though. Please enjoy the High definition photos of the beaches along the Colorado river after the cleanup showing the reality of this effort and the people enjoying our beautiful beaches on the day after the River Regatta . Best regards Mel Moore. I am a 5 generation resident and local of the Bullhead City area.....Our roots run deep in the desert all the way to the Colorado river
