Hello Everyone, I have had several ask if we made it to Franklin - TopicsExpress

Hello Everyone, I have had several ask if we made it to Franklin and AppleFest. The answer is yes we did, could we have picked a worse day no. Temperature in the low 40s Rain blowing sideways with ice pellets mixed in. We spent an hour trying to stay under the trees in the vendor section. Kathy Jordan spent her time looking at all the booths and buying apples. She went to the Humane Society to get home made cat nip rolls for the two varmints. NO DEBATE but there is no doubt in my mind CAT NIP is Marijuana. I am going to share some Photos so my new found family can see the town I grew up in. Smethport is a tiny little Boro. Between Franklin and Oil City and Cranberry Township at the top of the hill between the two Cities there is almost everything I could imagine you would net or want. Except no Kohls. So I am going to try and describe the pictures as I think they will appear below. 1. Our Beautiful Venango Co. Courthouse right in downtown Franklin on Liberty. I would say that the Courthouse is the start of Franklin as a town. 2. A picture of our Civil War Monument which is located in the park on the right side of the courthouse. Looking at the sign you will see they are trying to raise fund for renovation. 3. Our Town Fountain that I believe was built soon after Franklin was incorporated. 4. This picture is a look down Liberty Street which is the core of the town. Please note in all pictures the dark grey dreary.skies. 5. This is a picture of our old county Jail House. It is located directly behind and across the street from the Courthouse. 6. This is our historic Post Office. This is the place that I went to on January 26, 1979 and signed up for the new mandatory draft. At the same time I registered to Vote and joined the Republican Party. The best President of my lifetime, Ronald Wilson Reagan was the first President I ever voted for. Final notes: Did we stop at Clarks Donuts Yes. Were they open NO :( Did we go to Leonardos for Dinner YES. My ham and cheese sub with all their original topping was wonderful. I ordered to more for take out to eat this coming week. Kathy however ordered a small Taco Pizza. When are order finally arrived (the place was packed) The Taco Pizza was burned to a black (could not cut with a knife) smell of a three alarm fire upon delivery. We complained and Kathy picked on piece of the burned pizza to try and eat while they baked another (too GO) Right after our experience a couple right behind us ordered tow Strombolis (lets just say the were Steelers BLACK and I do believe could have been thrown across the restaurant for a touchdown. The waitress felt terrible about everything and she did bring a perfect looking Taco Pizza (to go) . Kathy got up before me and said she decided to have a piece of Taco Pizza for breakfast and according to her it was wonderful. I truly believe that they were really pushing their Pizza Oven. Anyway we are still glad we went. The first person we spotted as we drove into town (by Sheetz) was Mark Williams. We had a great (short) visit. After not seeing him in years Ive been with him the reunion planning committee, the reunion and now AppleFest all in a three month space of time. Mark I got your text and when you see this you will know the answer to your question.
