Hello Friends, We are reaching out to find stories for a new photography body-painting project. We are looking for people who are willing to share their personal stories, their hopes, dreams, ambitions, fears, aspirations, hardships and struggles with us. We want to work with these people to create an original body painting design that represents who they are on the inside, and answers the complex questions: In your most bare, natural form what would you like your skin to tell people to express who you are, who you’d like to be or how you’d like to be seen? If you could express what’s inside, how would you want it to look outside? Each participating subject will be asked the same questions that probe at the nature of true identity. The subject will work with our team of designers to create an outside that accurately portrays how they want to be seen. Through the physical transformation, subjects will express human truths, yearnings and strengths that will stand universally and create a beautiful series of images along the way. There are very few people in the world, if any, whose outside accurately reflects the inside. We are interested not in the common idea of beauty, but of an expression of truth. We love the idea of finding subjects with fascinating life stories, with physical scars and investigating if those scars would be hidden or displayed proudly. We’re interested in subjects whose religion has asked them always to wear something specific, and give that subject the freedom to choose whatever outside they want. We want to see how influences on a person’s life influence nonphysical attributes like devotion, desire and pride, and how those are then turned back into a physical manifestation. Each potential subject will meet or communicate with the project directors to tell his or her story and vision for the painting. If chosen, the subject will then work with directors to create a painting based on a pre-determined criteria and question process. After a period of pre-production design time, the subject, directors and any additional artists will meet to do the actual painting. This will then be photographed- uniquely, creatively and respectfully. Because we are interested in the transformation process and not just the before and after, we want to make an accompanying documentary in addition to the final photographs. This will be done as unobtrusively as possible, merely a fly on the wall through the entire process. We want to capture the entire transformation- initial subject finding process, the first interview with a subject, the design of a project and the final physical painting. Anyone who is interested in participating in this project is encouraged to send us a note with some initial ideas of the story you want to tell and what you’d want your skin to reflect. Because of the nature of the project, anyone who volunteers to participate would have to be comfortable with full or partial nudity, with appearing on camera and in photographs in that state, and with speaking candidly to the camera.
