Hello Guys, Passing this on from Emergency Management. We are in for some extremely cold weather for the rest of this week. Here are a few safety tips as we prepare for this cold front. · Check your Disaster Supply Kits - make sure they are stocked and ready for use if you are faced with a situation that it is needed. · Do you have sufficient heating fuel. · If using space heaters or other alternate sources of heat, make sure there is at least 3 feet of clearance from combustibles around the heater. · Do you have adequate clothing and blankets to keep you warm. · Bring pets/companion animals inside during winter weather. · Maintain heating equipment and chimneys by having them cleaned and inspected. · All fuel-burning equipment should be vented to the outside. · Learn how to shut off water valves, in case a pipe bursts. · Always check your smoke alarms for proper operation. Replace the battery if you are unaware when the last time it was changed. · Keep fire extinguishers on hand, and make sure everyone in your house knows how to use them. · Check on your neighbors and other family members to ensure their safety.
