Hello LightfooT lLgionnaires! For the past two weeks, I have been blessed to have my 91 year old mother visiting us from PA. Were having a great time. yesterday we visited Mt. Airy, NC, the hometown of the late Andy Griffith and the inspiration for Mayberry! Such a great time. In honor of ther visit, todays That What Words are For poll features part A of a sub-category I am calling Parental Poetry. Todays songs feature mothers. Ive decided three songs arent enough. Im doing four. The ones chosen are: 1.She is my flower And she blooms for the one who loves her best The miners stop to watch her as she walks They know her love is not for sale She will never fail me cause I know I watched her grow .And the mother of a miners child Waits for me beside the kitchen door. (Mother of a Miners Child) 2.Now the mother was alone and the winter was at hand And she prayed to her spirit kin .It was warm in the lodge in the Kentucky hills On the day when the boy came in.Then a blizzard came down and it covered up the door Till they thought that it never would end And he told her the tale of the terrible affair In the government store down in Cherokee Bend (Cherokee Bend) 3.Im standing at the doorway, my head bowed in my hands,Not knowing where to sit, not knowing where to stand .My father looms above me for him there is no rest .My mothers arms enfold me and hold me to her breast. They say you been out wandering, they say you traveled far Sit down young stranger and tell us who you are (Sit Down Young Stranger) 4. Does your mother know, you had to go someday ? Does your mother know, that you would grow so fast Anyway, thats all you think about Youd call her if you could. (Does Your Mother Know) Heres to our moms! THIS POLL IS OFFICIALLY OPEN AT 7:58 AM EST MARCH 22, 2014 AND WILL CONCLUDE IN ABOUT 24 HOURS. HAVE A GREAT AND WONDERFUL DAY!
